1.0.38 lands two days after 1.0.27 hotfix and focuses on inheritance, persistence, and end-game polish. The headline changes are the new Snaga’s Lightning Chain inheritance skill entries, Mana and combat-resource carry-over across sessions, and a long list of smaller fixes that don’t fit a single category.
Version And Date
Version: 1.0.38 Hotfix
Date: 2026-09-04 (NDEV Steam News)
This hotfix lands two days after 1.0.27 hotfix and concentrates on inheritance events, post-resurrection state persistence, restart-time resource carry-over, end-credits skip, indoor map display, Nia infection cutscene polish, Return availability after the A New Darkness ending, and Stone of Narrative UI improvements. Several Boss and region difficulty values are also tuned.
Inheritance
- Snaga’s Lightning Chain inheritance skill now has proper event and journal entries. Previously the skill could be inherited but its accompanying narrative and codex hooks were missing.
- Stone of Narrative UI receives new-entry notifications and adapts its layout for longer localized strings (multi-language length fit).
Persistence
- After resurrection, players retain their Mana. The previous behavior drained Mana on death.
- When the game is restarted, all combat resources are preserved. Previously a forced quit or crash could wipe progress toward the next engagement.
- Stone Warp waypoints now auto-save when activated, so the previous auto-save point is never further back than the warp.
- The Carox character-menu state now remembers the last opened menu, instead of defaulting to the top of the menu tree.
Endings And Cutscenes
- The end credits now have fast-forward and skip controls. Previously the credits played through at a fixed pace.
- The Return loop is now usable after the A New Darkness ending. Previously that ending locked Return off.
- During the Nia infection sequence, villagers Jack / Mark / Rotri now have facial expressions that respond to the infection state.
Map
- Indoor map and event-item markers now display correctly. Previously several indoor event items did not render on the map, leaving players to rely on memory.
- Several indoor spaces are now properly tagged in the walkthrough map layer.
Difficulty
Boss Tuning
- Kurtz
- Odz (new Boss — check the Bosses index for a page; if absent, this is the first formal in-game reference)
- Murant (new Boss — same note as Odz)
- Sorron
Exact numerical deltas (attack timing, HP, combo recovery windows) are not in the public patch text. Treat each Boss page as the running reference once player-verified numbers are in the content pack.
Region Tuning
- Strigine Quarry
- Moss Cave
- Elord Castle
- Black Canyon
- Higasha Tundra
- Ashen Valley (verify region page exists)
Progression Economy
- Memory Fragment requirements are reduced:
- Skill tree reset cost: 20 → 10 fragments
- Narrative hint unlock: 20 → 5 fragments
- The Stone of Narrative UI now surfaces a notification when a new entry becomes available, instead of silently appearing later.
Audio
- Water echo / reverb ambience has been improved. Several cave and sanctuary Water surfaces previously had flat or clipped residue audio.
Bug Fixes
- Extermination Protocol activation no longer causes some Bosses to chain skills in an unintended order. The previous behavior could queue a second skill before the first animation completed under specific Extermination Protocol states.
Player-Reported Replay Cases (post-1.0.38)
Two notable player-reported cases surfaced within 48 hours of the 1.0.38 release. Neither has been confirmed by the developer as a separate regression — both are listed here as community observations, not studio-confirmed bugs.
CaesiumFox replay report (Steam Bug Reports, 2026-09-04)
A player named CaesiumFox posted a new report on the Steam Bug Reports forum on 2026-09-04 at 03:16 (UTC+8) describing the same family of soft-lock that the Half Salvation Stone bug thread originally covered: equipping Half Salvation Stone, picking up the 6th Adrian’s Marble, then the screen goes black and Coen cannot move. The thread had zero developer replies as of the daily scan that flagged it (2026-09-06). The exact same trigger conditions were reported on 2026-08-30 in a thread the developer had acknowledged as fix queued on 2026-09-02. Source: Steam Community discussion 581681298840642494.
Wiki editorial note: 1.0.27 was confirmed to fix the 2026-08-30 trigger, but the 2026-09-04 replay suggests either (a) a new trigger condition the 1.0.27 fix did not cover, or (b) an incomplete fix. 1.0.38 does not explicitly call out Half Salvation Stone in its patch text. Until the developer comments in the CaesiumFox thread, treat this as community-flagged, not studio-confirmed. The community page /community/half-salvation-stone-bug carries the same caveat.

Why this matters for the patch text
If a developer reply confirms that 1.0.38 does not cover the CaesiumFox trigger, the page will be updated to add a “known unfixed regression” note under the Bug Fixes heading above. If the developer confirms 1.0.38 does cover it, the page will be updated to add the half-salvation-stone reference to the bug-fixes list. Watch this page for updates.
