Fatal Claw has no double jump. That is the first thing to settle, because the genre sets the expectation and the search traffic shows players asking for it. What the game has instead is a layered air kit — dash, midair dash, Lyani’s Claws, glide, Blink, and (after Aphotic Marsh) Silver Chain — that together cover every gap a missing double jump seems to block.
The mistake most players make is searching for one tool that solves every stuck spot. There isn’t one. Each air problem has a specific answer, and each answer is gated by a specific boss reward. The right habit is to learn the mapping, not the button.
The Real Air Kit
| Tool | Confirmed role | How you get it |
|---|---|---|
| Dash | Ground burst, becomes midair dash after the relevant unlock | Acquired early in Origin Laboratory and routes |
| Air dash | Forward midair dash that extends platforming chains | Unlocked after Mirkam, tied to the village-power route |
| Lyani’s Claws | Wall cling, slide, and wall-jump — verticality answer | Early-expansion Mutated Ability |
| Glide | Slow fall and wall-grab while gliding | Confirmed movement tool, wall-grab added after player feedback |
| Blink | Short teleport behind enemies; also a puzzle and route tool | Confirmed combat and movement tool |
| Silver Chain | Late traversal unlock | 1.0 Aphotic Marsh pickup |
Five of those six tools come from a boss or expansion milestone, which is why each one clears a wave of old Carox markers when it lands.
Stuck-Spot Archetype Map
When a route looks unreachable, identify the shape of the problem first. The shape picks the tool.
| Archetype | Best tool | Why it works |
|---|---|---|
| Tall featureless wall (no handholds) | Lyani’s Claws | Wall cling lets you start a climb from a flat surface where wall climb has nothing to grab |
| Wide horizontal gap | Air dash | Single jump will not clear it; one forward midair dash usually does |
| Long vertical shaft with handholds | Wall climb + Blink combo | Climb the shaft, Blink past any enemy midair hazards, repeat |
| Spike pit, long descent, or wind updraft | Glide | Slow fall buys positioning time and the wall-grab while gliding opens new exits |
| Puzzle switch across a gap | Blink | Repositioning tool, not a movement answer |
If a ledge still refuses to open after the relevant ability, the block is probably a story object rather than a movement unlock. King’s Authority and the green ID card are the two most common story locks in the castle and manor routes; the Fatal Claw Walkthrough tracks which gates each one opens.
Pogo And The 1.0.8 Hotfix
Enemy-bounce (pogo) is part of the air kit’s combat use. The 1.0.8 hotfix slowed the pogo descent so the bounce reads as a deliberate commitment rather than a fast drop. If older guides tell you to spam pogo off every enemy, that advice is pre-1.0.8. Plan one bounce, follow with a Claw string or a reposition, and only chain if the enemy layout is clearly safe.
Marker Sweep After Each Boss Reward
Each pickup clears a cluster of Carox markers from earlier regions. The workflow is:
- Drop a marker on every dead end, every ability-gated ledge, and every unreachable item the first time you see it.
- After a boss or expansion milestone that hands you a movement tool, sweep those markers.
- Clear the ones the new tool solves, leave the ones still locked behind story objects or later bosses.
This is the same habit described in Fatal Claw Beginner Tips and the Ability System Explained page, applied to the air kit specifically.
