Engraved Skills are Fatal Claw’s magical skill system. The source pack defines them as skills absorbed from infected enemies and used to counter enemy abilities. It also says Engraved Skills can be customized or fused through Cabitz. That gives the system a clear role: these are not just extra attacks. They are answers to patterns that the basic Claw string, Heal, or Blink cannot solve cleanly by themselves.
The confirmed public list is limited. The pack names Reien’s Covenant as a wolf-related Engraved Skill added in the second Early Access expansion, and it places Silver Chain in the 1.0 Aphotic Marsh content as an Engraved Skill or ability with late traversal importance. Because there is no full official list in the pack, this guide does not invent skill names, cooldowns, or damage values. Instead, it explains how to use the confirmed references and how to think about fusion.
Confirmed Skill References
| Skill or reference | Confirmed context | Practical use |
|---|---|---|
| Reien’s Covenant | Wolf-related Engraved Skill from Early Access Expansion 2 | Plan around companion or wolf pressure, especially near Enma context. |
| Silver Chain | Aphotic Marsh 1.0 ability and Engraved Skill context | Use as a late-game route and combat tool after Aphotic Marsh. |
| Engraved Skills | Absorbed magical skills from infected | Use them as counters to enemy abilities, not as random background damage. |
| Cabitz fusion | Customization and fusion path for Engraved Skills | Adjust a skill to solve a specific fight or route problem. |
How To Acquire And Read Them
The source pack says Engraved Skills are absorbed from infected, so the acquisition model follows the game’s larger premise: Kisha vanquishes infected enemies and absorbs their power. When an enemy ability keeps defeating you, the game may be asking for a specific counter or a better-supported skill. That does not mean every obstacle has a single required skill, but it does mean your build should react to the problem in front of you.
If you acquire a new Engraved Skill, test it against three questions. Does it answer range? Does it answer timing? Does it answer a route hazard or boss pattern that basic Claw pressure cannot safely reach? If the answer is unclear, keep the skill in mind but do not rebuild your whole Cabitz setup around it yet.
Fusion Planning
Cabitz is the customization layer. The pack says it can add new abilities or customize existing ones, and that Engraved Skills can be customized or fused via Cabitz. It does not provide exact fusion recipes, so a responsible guide should focus on categories. Pair a skill with Cabitz support when you know why the skill matters. Reien’s Covenant might be supported when wolf-related pressure fits the route. Silver Chain might be supported when Aphotic Marsh and late backtracking are the current focus. A general counter skill might be supported when a boss repeatedly punishes Claw-only play.
Do not fuse or customize just because a menu allows it. In Fatal Claw, healing orbs refill through attacking or tea, Blink uses positioning, and Claw remains the baseline. A skill plan that ignores those fundamentals can make a build feel powerful on paper but awkward in practice.
Fight And Route Use
Against bosses, Engraved Skills should answer a named problem. Enma’s Golden Spirit Wolf and illusion pressure, Ortrinde’s floating blades, Irbes phase-two copy clumps, and Kurtz’s Blink-distance checks are all examples of fights where a counter mindset matters. The source pack does not say a specific Engraved Skill solves each one, so treat skills as tactical tools: use them when their timing and shape match the threat.
On routes, Engraved Skills overlap with traversal when a skill also changes movement or access. Silver Chain is the important example because it belongs to the 1.0 Aphotic Marsh content and late-game routing. If a new skill changes how you move through old rooms, revisit Carox markers and blocked paths.
